Help Me Out?
As part of my senior research project for my undergrad degree in Communication Studies, I am studying Lost, its advertising using digital media, and audience participation. I was wondering if any of you would be interested in assisting me. I want to learn more about your level of emotional investment with Lost and how that manifests itself. I'm interested in how this demonstrates ABC's success in advertising Lost. If you are 18 or older and willing for your anonymous thoughts to be used in my paper, please contact me. Lines in the Sand
I was just curious... there's been all sorts of talk of where people in this community fall when it comes to the "big picture", but I'm curious about people's relations to characters and character's relationships to each other, since to me, the show is about people and how they interact with one another and the choices that they make. These are different "lines in the sand" so to speak than those in the "big picture". So, some questions! I also want to see people choose *just one* character for each question. Yeah, I know it can be hard, but I'm curious! Some are frequently asked, some less so, but for the sake of clarity, they are all here to provide a bigger picture of what each person thinks. The Oscars? Who cares? What about my LOST?
Folks in the NY/NJ/CT area: Cablevision and ABC are having a little tiff, and ABC is no longer being broadcast over Cablevision. Will this get resolved by Tuesday? One can only hope! But you may want to make alternate arrangements. Luckily, I get my TV the old-fashioned way at the moment. |

Previously segments on Lost...
Hello! One of the aspects of Lost that's always interested me is just how complex the narrative is from episode to episode, season to season, and all of the ways in which people work to keep the plot straight and to make connections and predictions. I'm working on my MA thesis right now in Media Studies, and I'm writing about TV previously/recap segments and how they affect our viewing experience. I have a whole chapter devoted to Lost and how the complexity of its narrative started a trend in longer, more prevalent previously segments and clip shows. I was hoping some of you might be interested in bringing your experiences as fans into the equation. Do you find the previouslies useful? Necessary? Do they ever spoil you for something in the coming episode? Do you think you'd make the same connections without them? Would you rather work to make connections without them? Enhanced episode transcripts?
Anybody know of a source for transcripts other than Lostpedia? They seem to have given up on the enhanced ones - usually they are up quickly, but "The Substitute" still isn't up, and "Lighthouse" doesn't even have an empty placemarker even though the full episode transcripts are caught up through "Sundown." Now I'm sorry I took them for granted all this time :-( |
